WiFi 7
A new router should not be a generation old on day one, so we don't ship WiFi 6 at all. And the label isn't the spec — a cut-corner WiFi 7 gateway can lose to a good WiFi 6E router, so we don't ship those either. The 1 Gbps plan includes a dual-band WiFi 7 router. The 10 Gbps plan includes the flagship: tri-band with the 6 GHz band and 10G wired ports, so the fibre plan can stretch its legs.

The network
FibreTel is overbuilt on purpose: our own fibre to the building, our own data centres, our own connections to the rest of the internet. It's the kind of network most companies reserve for their business customers.
Think you're not getting what you pay for? Tell us — we take slow personally. We'll test your line with our own reference gear, not whatever laptop's nearby. If the access side isn't delivering, we fix it. If it's congestion upstream, it goes straight into the capacity plan — and if it's already flagged, the fix is already underway.
The network behind your plan has room to breathe. It never fills up when everyone gets home at six.
All in Metro Vancouver. Your traffic isn't a long-distance call inside somebody else's network.
From the fibre in your building to the public internet, the whole path is ours. Nobody to blame but us — which is the point.
We connect straight to the big content networks, so streams and downloads take the short road.
Every FibreTel plan is fully symmetric — 1 Gbps up and 1 Gbps down, or 10 Gbps up and 10 Gbps down.
Optional addon · $10/mo
Battery takes over automatically. Internet stays up. Calls keep going. Up to 2 hours of runtime. Install's on us.

FAQ
For most apartments — normal streaming, normal gaming, normal working-from-home — 1 Gbps is already overkill and maxes out almost every device you own. Pick 10 Gbps for a full household, serious uploads, or the flagship router: tri-band WiFi 7 with the 6 GHz band and 10G wired ports.
Both plans include a WiFi 7 router — we don't ship WiFi 6 hardware at all. The 1 Gbps plan gets a dual-band WiFi 7 router. The 10 Gbps plan gets the flagship tri-band model with the 6 GHz band and 10G wired ports.
In a downtown apartment, yes, more than you'd think. Dozens of overlapping networks fight for the same airwaves on every floor. WiFi 7 can use channels and bands older routers can't reach, so your signal stays out of the traffic.
Yes. Plug it into the FibreTel box's LAN port in bridge mode and run your own network. You give up some of the support upside — we can't remotely diagnose a router we didn't make — but plenty of customers do it.
Same as your download. Every FibreTel plan is fully symmetric — 1 Gbps up and 1 Gbps down, or 10 Gbps up and 10 Gbps down. None of the '1 Gbps down, 100 Mbps up' marketing math the cable companies pull. Upload matters for video calls, cloud backup, gaming, and the photos your phone is constantly syncing.
Moving to another building on our network? Account comes with you — same plan, same router, same bill. Moving somewhere we don't serve yet? We cancel cleanly. No exit fee. No contract.
No. Stream, download, upload, back up your whole photo library, host a small server. All of it. No 'soft cap' at 1 TB, no throttling at any point.
We cover it. Sign up with FibreTel first. Once you're live, cancel them and send us the termination bill. Whatever they charge comes off your FibreTel bill as a credit.
No. It's sized for the fibre equipment we install — no spare outlets for lamps or laptops. For whole-home backup (fridge, medical devices), you want a regular home UPS or portable power station. Ask and we'll point you at good ones.
Only one way to know — drop your address in the availability checker. We light up new Vancouver buildings constantly. If you're not on today, you might be soon.
