Accessibility

Our Accessible Canada Act statement, feedback channel, and barrier-removal progress. We want FibreTel to work for everyone.

Updated

Our commitment

FibreTel Networks Ltd. is a federally-regulated telecommunications carrier, and we’re committed to identifying, removing, and preventing barriers to accessibility under the Accessible Canada Act (ACA). We believe reliable internet, voice, and TV should be available to every Canadian regardless of ability.

Areas we focus on

  • Built environment: we install fibre in buildings that have accessible common areas wherever possible. Where that isn’t feasible due to an existing building, we work with owners on workarounds.
  • Employment: our hiring process and workplace accommodate candidates and employees with disabilities.
  • Information and communication technologies: our websites, customer portals, and mobile apps aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. We’re not there on every page yet — see Progress below.
  • Communication: we offer customer support in 53 languages through interpreter services. Deaf and hard-of-hearing customers can reach us via email, SMS, or MyAccount rather than phone.
  • Procurement: we ask vendors about accessibility features when we evaluate equipment and software.
  • Design and delivery of services: our plans, pricing, and installation process are designed to be navigable for customers of varied abilities.
  • Transportation: not applicable — we’re not a transportation provider.

Alternate formats

If you need this statement, your FibreTel bill, or any other communication in an alternate format (large print, braille, audio, or electronic), contact us at fibretel.ca/contact. We’ll provide it within 15 days for most requests, or 45 days for braille and audio formats — consistent with the ACA timelines.

Feedback process

We want to hear from you if something doesn’t work, or if you’ve found a barrier we should fix. You can give feedback in any of these ways:

Feedback can be submitted anonymously. We acknowledge every submission (unless it’s anonymous) and take feedback seriously when we plan updates.

Accessibility plan & progress reports

Under the ACA, we publish a multi-year accessibility plan and annual progress reports. Our first plan is in preparation. Links will land here when they’re published.
