FAQ

Things people actually ask

How is this different from regular public WiFi?

Public WiFi asks you to accept the terms again every day, at every location, and treats every visit like the first. Connect asks once: sign in with your FibreTel ID and every FibreTel hotspot in the city recognizes you from then on โ€” signed in as you, on your account, not sharing a password with strangers.

Where is the coverage?

12+ hotspots across Vancouver right now. We add more every month โ€” anywhere we have a FibreTel fibre drop, we can light up a Connect access point. Map coming to the portal soon.

Will it eat my battery?

No more than any other WiFi network. Your phone is scanning for networks constantly already โ€” Connect just means it finds one it trusts more often.

How does it know which devices to let in?

Each device signs in with a FibreTel login the first time it joins a hotspot โ€” yours, or a household member's own login on Connect Family. After that the network remembers the device, up to your plan's device limit.

Is this the same as Enterphone Connect?

No. Enterphone Connect is the building intercom product โ€” different product that just happens to share a word.

What happens outside the coverage area?

Your phone falls back to cellular, same as always. The moment it sees a FibreTel hotspot again, it rejoins.
