How to Block Unwanted Calls

What Is Call Blocking? #

Call Blocking helps you avoid unwanted or nuisance calls by automatically rejecting certain types of calls, such as anonymous or specific numbers.

Blocking Anonymous Calls #

  1. Activate Anonymous Call Blocking:
    • Dial *77 to block calls from numbers with no Caller ID.
    • You’ll hear a confirmation tone when the feature is activated.
  2. Deactivate Anonymous Call Blocking:
    • Dial *87 to disable the feature.
    • You’ll hear a confirmation tone when it’s turned off.

Blocking Specific Numbers #

Currently, FibreTel’s Residential Voice service does not support blocking specific numbers. However, if you’re receiving harassing calls, consider using the Call Trace feature to report the issue to local authorities.

Using Do Not Disturb as a Block #

If you’d prefer not to receive any calls for a period of time, you can activate Do Not Disturb by dialing *78. All incoming calls will go directly to voicemail until you deactivate it with *79.

Pro Tips for Blocking Calls #

  • Protect Your Peace: Use *77 to block anonymous calls and avoid distractions.
  • Escalate Harassment: Use Call Trace (*57) for serious issues involving unwanted calls.
  • Temporary Silence: Use Do Not Disturb (*78) during meetings or downtime.
