Why Is My WiFi Acting Up? #
Intermittent WiFi issues can be frustrating, but they’re usually caused by things like signal interference, device overload, or a poorly placed router. Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered with some quick fixes.
1. Make Sure You’re Connected to the Correct WiFi Network #
- The default FibreTel network name (SSID) starts with “FibreTel” followed by 6 random letters/numbers.
- You can confirm the network name and password by logging into your My Account page at myaccount.fibretel.ca and opening the WiFi tab.
- If you’re connected to a neighbor’s network or an incorrect one, disconnect and join the correct FibreTel network.
2. Check Your Router Placement #
- Place your router in a central, open location—avoiding walls, furniture, and electronics that can block signals.
- Avoid placing it near microwaves, baby monitors, or other devices that can interfere with WiFi signals.
- Need to move your router? Contact us to book a service call, and one of our tech wizards will come and relocate it for you—no charge.
3. Restart Your Router #
- Turn your router off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
- This can clear temporary glitches and improve performance.
